Swat witnesses rise in incidents of auto theft

SWAT: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Swat district has been witnessed a rise in the incidents of auto theft in recent days which has created panic and fear among the public.

According to local people, an unprecedented increase of car thefts has been witnessed across the district, which has spread severe fear and panic among the public.

Three vehicles and a dozen motorcycles have been stolen in the past a week, while the police are limited to registering reports only.

The latest incident took place in the Gali Bagh area of tehsil Char Bagh, where a non-customs-paid motor car was stolen from a garage. The affected citizen has filed a report at the Char Bagh police station.

According to details, this week, the car of Rahimullah, a resident of Balogram, was stolen, another car from Mingora Watke, and a third car was stolen in Gali Bagh.

Local people are concerned and stating that an organized gang of thieves is being said to be behind these incidents, which is beyond the police’s control.

Citizens say that the law enforcement agencies have failed to catch the criminals, due to which the public is forced to guard their valuable vehicles themselves. The public has demanded that the government and police authorities immediately expose this gang of thieves and bring the accused to justice.
