KP Social Welfare Dept implements minimum wage policy Rs1200 per day

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Social Welfare department employees received salaries with 10 months’ delay as per the new Minimum wage criteria, 1200 rupees per day, making a total Rs 36,000 per month to all project employees.

According to the details, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Social Welfare Department has fixed the minimum wage for project employees after a delay of 10 months.The government has issued instructions for a Salary of Rs 36,000 to all project employees. Social Welfare Department, employees working under all projects who are receiving a current salary less than the minimum wage will be allowed to be paid a salary of Rs 36,000 per month. This will apply to all projects running under the Social Welfare Department, including employees of rehabilitation centres and other institutions. The above announcement has been sent to all District Officers of Social Welfare, Rehabilitation Officers in charge of Darul Aman and the Project Manager of Special Children’s Schools. According to the notification, immediate implementation of this directive will be ensured. It should be noted that the minimum wage law was implemented by the provincial government on July 1, 2024, but the Social Welfare Department started its implementation 10 months later, in May.
