Three students injured in IED blast near school in Bannu

At least three students of a government higher secondary school were injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded on a police van near the school in the Basya Khel area of Bannu on Monday morning.

According to the local police, three students were injured in the blast and have been taken to the hospital for treatment.

They said the IED exploded on the police van when it was patrolling in the area. The incident occurred within the limits of the Basya Khel police station and was carried out by unidentified terrorists.

Police, however, launched a search operation in the area soon after the blast to trace out the miscreants behind the incident.

The southern region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has seen an uptick in insurgency in recent years, with hundreds of people, including law enforcers, losing their lives.

Two terrorists were killed and a policeman was injured in the exchange of fire between the police and terrorists on Sunday when they abducted three local citizens. However, all three hostages have been rescued from the terrorists.
