PESHAWAR:The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has approved the creation of 127 new posts in the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, increasing the total number of sanctioned positions to 946—the highest among all provincial assembly secretariats in Pakistan.

According to official documents obtained under the Access to Information Act, the KP Finance Department has issued position codes for these new jobs, paving the way for recruitment. The newly created positions include:
– 5.5 postsfor Junior Research Assistants and Junior Accounts Assistants (Scale 9)
– 117 Grade IV posts, including Vehicle Examiners, Accounts Record Keepers, Telephone Operators, Office Clerks, Drivers, and Sanitary Attendants.
Currently, 805 posts in the KP Assembly Secretariat are filled, while 141 remain vacant. With 145 members in the KP Assembly, the ratio stands at approximately 6.5 staff members per legislator—higher than Punjab and Sindh, where the ratios are lower despite larger assemblies.
This move is expected to improve administrative efficiency and provide employment opportunities in the province. Recruitment for the newly created positions will begin soon.
