Two POs killed in Mardan police encounter

MARDAN: Two dangerous inter-district gang members were killed in a firing encounter with a Mardan police party near Sabzi Mandi Dhere Baba on Charsadda Road under the Saddar police station limits. According to the police, both the dangerous members were wanted by Nowshera, Swabi and Mardan police for robbery and snatching. Mobile phones, 2 knives and 2 pistols with chargers and cartridges were recovered from the possession of the slain members. However, on receiving information, a large contingent of police, including SP City, DSPs, SHOs reached the spot. The police took both the bodies into their custody and shifted them to the District Headquarters Hospital Mardan, for postmortem.

According to initial reports, Ali Bahadur, a resident of Charsadda, a member of two inter-district dangerous gangs, along with his other unidentified accomplice, opened fire on a Mardan police party near Sabzi Mandi Dhere Baba on Charsadda Road under the Saddar police station limits. According to police sources, both the dangerous snatchers were wanted by Nowshera, Swabi and Mardan police for robbery, snatching and other crimes. Mobile phones, 2 knives and 2 pistols with chargers and cartridges were also recovered from the possession of the slain snatchers. However, on receiving information, a large police contingent, including SP City Shafiullah, DSPs Murad Ali, Arshad Khan, SHO City Police Station Abdul Salam Khan reached the spot and took both the bodies into their custody, which were later shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Mardan for postmortem. On this occasion, SP City Shafiullah said that protecting the lives and property of the public is the primary responsibility of the police. To maintain law and order, police officers and officials are working to control crime. The SP City said that police operations against criminals will continue in the same manner and will not allow any anti-social elements involved in crimes to take the law into their own hands.
