ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has begun reviewing tax exemptions for various sectors as part of preparations for the 2025-26 budget, Chairman FBR Rashid Mahmood Langrial announced.
In a key development, teachers will receive a 25% income tax rebate starting next fiscal year. For the current year, eligible educators will get refunds or adjustments. Langrial clarified that no new taxes are planned for teachers or solar panel users, nor will additional duties be imposed on solar panel imports.
The Senate Standing Committee on Finance has already approved the Income Tax Second Amendment Bill 2025. Meanwhile, the FBR is negotiating with the IMF to secure tax relief for salaried employees and other sectors.
Langrial emphasized that while tax policies are being refined, solar energy initiatives remain unaffected, with no rate hikes planned for solar panels. The review aims to balance revenue needs with economic growth priorities.
