PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto aleges Indian 'Water Terrorism,' urges UN to intervene on Kashmir

New York: Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has arrived in New York to present Pakistan’s position on key regional issues at the United Nations. In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Bilawal declared that he would serve as “the voice of Pakistan” at the international forum.

Speaking ahead of his engagements, Bilawal strongly criticised India, accusing it of using water as a weapon by attacking the Sindhu (Indus River), and called on the global community to help protect Pakistan’s water rights. “India has attacked the Sindhu using water as a weapon. We must save our river,” he said.

He further emphasised that peace in South Asia is impossible without a resolution to the Kashmir dispute. “We will convey the message to the United Nations that there can be no peace until the Kashmir issue is resolved,” Bilawal stated.

Touching on the issue of terrorism, the PPP chairman said Pakistan is among the countries most affected by terrorism and reiterated Pakistan’s opposition to all forms of extremism. However, he alleged that India itself was weaponising terrorism to target Muslims in the region. “If the neighbour uses terrorism as a tool to torture Muslims, there can be no peace,” he warned.

Bilawal Bhutto concluded his message with a reaffirmation of Pakistan’s commitment to peace. Pakistan gives a message of peace. We want peace, but with respect and equality,” he said.

Bilawal’s visit to New York is part of a broader diplomatic effort to raise Pakistan’s concerns on international platforms, particularly regarding water rights and regional security.
