Reserved seats verdict: Who gains what in KP assembly?

PESHAWAR: In a major political development, the Supreme Court SC of Pakistan has accepted review petitions challenging the earlier allocation of reserved seats to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The court upheld the Peshawar High Court’s decision, leading to a redistribution of 77 reserved seats across national and provincial assemblies.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly, 25 reserved seats (21 for women, 4 for minorities) will now be shared among multiple parties. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) will each receive 7 seats, while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) gets 4, and the Awami National Party (ANP) and PTI-backed independents will get 1 seat each.

The Election Commission will determine the allocation of 1 remaining women’s seat, while minority seats will be equally split between PML-N and JUI-F.
