PESHAWAR: Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, met with local youths Muhammad Hilal Khan and Ismat Ali, who risked their lives to save tourists stranded during a recent incident in Swat using a makeshift boat.
The Governor praised their courage and humanitarian spirit and expressed his deep appreciation for the bravery and selfless service displayed by both young men. In recognition of their heroic efforts, he announced that he would be sending them on an Umrah pilgrimage as a token of gratitude.
Additionally, the Governor presented them with commemorative shields to honour their exceptional bravery and commitment to saving lives. He also declared his intention to recommend both Muhammad Hilal Khan and Ismat Ali for civil awards to the Prime Minister in acknowledgement of their extraordinary courage.
Highlighting the valour of the local youth, Governor Kundi remarked that risking one’s life to rescue others, especially under such dangerous conditions, is truly commendable. He emphasised that their dedication to humanitarian aid deserves the highest recognition.
In related developments, the Governor instructed the Chairman of the Red Crescent Society to strengthen the Swat office’s emergency response capabilities. He specifically directed that the available ambulances in Swat be equipped with boats, enabling timely rescue operations during flood emergencies.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi stressed that Red Crescent ambulances with boats will enhance their ability to provide swift rescue services during critical flood situations, thereby safeguarding more lives in the region.
