PESHAWAR: Justice S.M. Atiq Shah in took oath as the new Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court in a graceful ceremony held at the Governor House in Peshawar.
The oath of office was administered by the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, who congratulated Justice Atiq Shah on assuming the highest judicial position in the province. He expressed his best wishes for Justice Shah’s tenure and voiced confidence in his commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring swift and fair justice.
The ceremony was marked by the presence of key political, judicial, and administrative figures. Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, attended the event and also extended his congratulations to the new Chief Justice. In his remarks, he emphasised the importance of a strong and independent judiciary for the development and stability of the province.
Federal Minister for SAFRON Amir Muqam, Opposition Leader in the KP Assembly Dr. Ibadullah, and several provincial ministers were also present. The event drew participation from senior justices, lawyers, and top officials including Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Ahmad, and Commissioner Peshawar Riaz Mehsud, as well as heads of various administrative departments.
The ceremony highlighted the significance of the judiciary’s role in upholding constitutional values and delivering justice to the people. Justice S.M. Atiq Shah brings with him a wealth of judicial experience and is expected to lead the Peshawar High Court with integrity, professionalism, and a deep sense of public responsibility.
