PESHAWAR: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Arbab Khizer Hayat has strongly criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) over its candidate selection in the recent Senate elections, accusing the party of abandoning its ideological workers in favor of political opportunism.
Speaking in a podcast on Pakhtoon Digital, Hayat questioned PTI’s claims of being a principled party, saying, “PTI calls itself an ideological party and often criticizes others, but in these Senate elections, it ignored its long-standing members and awarded tickets to others. So, what’s the difference between PTI and other parties now?”
He further challenged PTI’s assertion that former Prime Minister Imran Khan personally finalized the Senate candidates. “If that’s true, then do Imran Khan’s ideological workers and senior members no longer matter?” Hayat remarked.
The PML-N leader claimed that PTI has now embraced the same “hereditary and personal politics” it once condemned. “The situation is clear—PTI is following the same path it used to criticize,” he said.
Hayat’s remarks highlight growing political tensions as parties reassess alliances following the Senate polls.
