EU Ambassador holds farewell meeting with PM Shehbaz Sharif

PESHAWAR:  European Union (EU) Ambassador Riina Ruth Kionka held fareell meeting Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House this morning.

Congratulating the EU Ambassador on the successful completion of her tenure in Pakistan, the Prime Minister thanked her for playing a significant role in strengthening Pakistan-EU relations.

The Prime Minister appreciated the Ambassador’s efforts in ensuring EU assistance during the 2022 floods in Pakistan. The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of the EU as one of Pakistan’s largest trading partners.  Reiterated the government’s commitment to the GSP Plus scheme, which has proven to be mutually beneficial for both sides. The Prime Minister also extended his best wishes to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and said that he looked forward to meeting her in the coming days.

The meeting also discussed important issues, including the political developments in the country between Pakistan and the EU. The EU Ambassador thanked the Prime Minister for the support received during her stay in Pakistan. She said that the EU is committed to strengthening its cooperation with Pakistan. Expressing gratitude for the Prime Minister’s good wishes, she said that she will continue to promote strong relations between Pakistan and the European Union in her next assignment in Brussels.
