Pakistan secured a spot in the World Junior Squash Championship quarterfinals after defeating Poland 2-0 in the men’s team event at the Black Ball Club on Tuesday.
Abdullah Nawaz gave Pakistan a strong start with a 3-1 win over Jan Samborski, rallying after a 1-1 tie to dominate the final two sets (11-8, 11-2). Anas Ali Shah followed with a hard-fought 3-2 victory against Franciszek Michniewicz, overcoming a mid-game deficit to clinch the decisive fifth set 11-3.
The third match between Muhammad Umair Arif and Mateusz Ptaszek was rendered unnecessary due to Pakistan’s early win. The team will next face England in the quarterfinals.
Earlier, Pakistan’s individual campaign ended when Abdullah Nawaz fell 3-0 to Egypt’s Adam Hawal in the Round of 16.
