Indian water release submerged Kartarpur Gurdwara in Narowal

NAROWAL: The breach of the protective wall of the Ravi River near Kartarpur has caused water to enter the gurdwara and caused submerging the popular Kartarpur Gurdwara in Norowal on Wednesday.

Due to the rapid flow of water, the Narowal-Shakargarh road has been closed for traffic. Due to Indian water aggression, more than 250,000 cusecs of water are flowing in the Ravi River at Kot Ninan in Shakargarh, which has caused a breach in the protective wall near Bheko Chak. The Bheko Chak, Nowshera, Nowgaza-Kartarpur main road, Mandikhel, Bhajna, has been flooded, due to which the Narowal-Shakargarh road has been closed for traffic.

Due to the rains, there is a very high level of flooding in the Chenab River at Marala. The inflow of water at the Chenab River at Marala is 769,000, and the outflow is 762,000 cusecs. The flow of water at Khanki is 755,000 cusecs. There is a very high level of flooding in the Ravi River at Jasar. The flow of water at Shahdara is 72,000 cusecs.

The inflow of water at the Baloki Headworks is 79,000, and the outflow is 67,000 cusecs. The flow of water at Ganda Singh Wala is 245,000 cusecs. The flow of water at Sulemanki is 100,000 cusecs.

The Sikh community have expressed severe anger over the Indian release of water which caused huge losses to their worship place and religious centre. They said that Indian government must compensate Sikh community after releasing huge quantity of water to Pakistani rivers. They appealed international community to take action against Indian release of water which has threatened the existence of their religious place. They also appealed Pakistan government to raise the issue at International Forum.
