Former captain and star all-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi has expressed deep sorrow and regret over the horrific devastation caused by the recent earthquake in Afghanistan, saying, “We stand with our Afghan brothers in this difficult time.”
Shahid Afridi said in a statement on social media that the news of the earthquake in Afghanistan is heartbreaking. “We share the grief of all the families who lost their loved ones. May Allah Almighty grant patience to the affected people and facilitate the recovery process.
Severely affected areas: Nurgal, Sawkai, Watapur, Manogi, Chapa Dara in Kunar province. According to Afghan media, the epicenter of the earthquake was 8 kilometers deep in Jalalabad city, after which five aftershocks were also felt, ranging in intensity from 4.3 to 5.2.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the Afghan people affected by the earthquake and said that the people and government of Pakistan are with the Afghan brothers at every step.
Relief operations are still ongoing, while it is feared that many people are still buried under the rubble. The earthquake in Afghanistan with intensity: 6.0 on the Richter scale struck the Kurnar area, resulting deaths of more than 124 and injuries to 3,251 while causing damage to 8,000 houses.
