Injured Fakhar Zaman ruled out of Champions Trophy

KARACHI: Pakistan have suffered a major blow as its solo opener  in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Fakhar Zaman,  has been ruled out of the tournament after suffering an injury while fielding in the opening match against New Zealand in Karachi.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed saying that Fakhar Zaman will not be travelling with the national team for Dubai today for their crucial clash against India on February 23.

Reports indicated that his injury was serious, making him unavailable for the rest of the tournament.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has approached the ICC Technical Committee for a replacement, with Imam-ul-Haq emerging as the frontrunner for the spot.

Fakhar sustained the injury in the first over while fielding against New Zealand. Despite leaving the field twice for treatment, he continued playing but was visibly struggling during his batting innings.
