PESHAWAR: Meena Khan Afridi, announced Friday that strict measures are being enforced to prevent harassment in universities and other educational institutions across the province.
Afridi, in a press statement issued from his office, emphasized a zero-tolerance policy against harassment, stating that no leniency will be shown to offenders. He highlighted that anti-harassment laws and relevant forums in the province are fully operational and effectively addressing complaints.
Legal inquiries are currently underway against individuals accused of harassment, with several offenders already dismissed from their positions, Afridi said. He added that universities across the province are regularly directed to ensure a harassment-free environment, safeguarding the safety and well-being of students and faculty.

“Harassment, wherever it occurs, is unacceptable and punishable,” Afridi stressed.
The minister cited recent cases, including the successful prosecution of a perpetrator involved in a harassment case at the University of Malakand. Legal action has also been initiated against those involved in a harassment case at Women’s University Mardan.
Afridi reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to ensuring that all educational institutions provide a safe and conducive environment for academic progress.
