Abdul Khaliq Sheikh Named New FIA Chief as Jan Muhammad Removed

The federal government has appointed Abdul Khaliq Sheikh, a Grade 21 officer from the Police Group, as the new Director General (DG) of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

Sheikh will take over the additional charge of the position following the removal of Additional DG Jan Muhammad, who has been reassigned to another department as part of administrative changes.

Government sources said the move aims to bring fresh leadership to the FIA, with expectations that Sheikh’s experience will enhance the agency’s operations, particularly in tackling economic crimes, money laundering and counter-terrorism efforts.

Sheikh, a seasoned police officer, is expected to implement new strategies to improve the institution’s performance. Officials said the decision reflects the government’s push for reforms within the FIA.
