Upper parts of Kp receives fresh spell of snowfall, rain

 

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) upper regions received a fresh spell of snowfall on Thursday, while the plains were hit by rain, ushering in cold winds.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa upper parts, including, Shangla’ Yakhtangay, Ajmeer, Spenghar, Kandaw, Gamtal, Kapar Banda, Shangla top, Swat’ Kalam, Malam Jaba, Mansehra’s Naran, Kaghan, Saiful Maluk lake, Abottabad’s Nathtia Gali, Chitral, Dir Upper and other regions of the North Pakistan received fresh spell of the snowfall and rain.

According to locals the their areas’ mountains have been covered with a snow blanket and are presenting mesmerizing views and attracting nature lovers.

Earlier, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had predicted snowfall and rain in the upper parts of the KP.

A westerly weather system is expected to enter western Pakistan on Wednesday evening, persisting over upper KP for the next 36 to 48 hours.

Under this system, rain, strong winds, and occasional heavy downpours are likely in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Battagram, Haripur, Buner, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Waziristan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan, Nowshera, Swabi, Karak, Hangu, Kohat, and Galliyat between Sunday night and Tuesday.

Heavy rain and snowfall could lead to road blockages and slippery conditions in Galliyat, Naran, Kaghan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Shangla. Tourists are advised to exercise caution.

Meanwhile, dry conditions prevailed across most districts in the past 24 hours, sporadic rain, gusty winds, and snowfall were observed in upper KP.
