PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has begun preparations for its Annual Development Programme (ADP) for the fiscal year 2025-26, with Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur chairing a series of meetings to review proposed projects from key departments.
Four separate meetings were held on Tuesday to evaluate ongoing and new projects from the Sports, Information, Relief, and Auqaf departments for inclusion in the upcoming ADP. The sessions were attended by provincial cabinet members, Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, additional chief secretaries, administrative secretaries, and senior officials.
Chief Minister Gandapur emphasized the need for realistic, need-based projects that can be completed within the given timeframe. He warned against delays, which increase financial burdens, and directed officials to prioritize ongoing schemes in the next ADP.
“Development funds belong to the people and must be spent wisely,” Gandapur stated. “We must ensure maximum public benefit by avoiding duplication and focusing on viable projects.”
The Chief Minister instructed the Planning & Development Department to conduct thorough feasibility assessments before approving any new projects. He also stressed the importance of securing land availability before launching initiatives to prevent unnecessary delays.

Additionally, Gandapur called for an end to duplicated schemes across departments, ensuring efficient resource utilization. He directed that a major portion of the ADP budget be allocated to near-completion projects to minimize pending liabilities.
The upcoming ADP will be designed according to the province’s financial constraints, with a focus on minimizing throw-forward liabilities. The Chief Minister reiterated that only high-impact, feasible projects would be included in the final plan.
The government aims to finalize the ADP soon to ensure timely execution and optimal use of public funds.
