Accountability Committee Clears KP Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati of all charges

PESHAWAR: The Accountability committee of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has given clean chit to speaker KP Assembly in all corruption charges related illegal appointment and promotions.

An investigation was launched some time ago to probe the allegations against Speaker Babar Saleem Swati, in which matters related to alleged illegal recruitments and promotions were under consideration. According to details, the Accountability Committee established to prevent corruption in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has completed the ongoing investigation against Speaker KP Assembly Babar Saleem Swati and declared him clear. According to committee sources, no evidence of corruption against Babar Saleem Swati came to light during the investigation, after which the case file has been formally closed.

 

An investigation was launched some time ago to investigate the allegations against Speaker Babar Saleem Swati, in which matters related to alleged illegal recruitments and promotions were under consideration.Accountability Committee member Qazi Anwar Advocate told the media that he and another member Mosaddiq Abbasi had different views on the ongoing investigation against the Speaker, however, after reviewing the evidence by both parties, it was decided that no aspect of corruption could be proven in the matter.

 

Qazi Anwar explained that there were complaints against the Speaker not directly about corruption but about the use of authority, which mentioned illegal appointments and promotions. He said that the Speaker has the constitutional and administrative authority to take these steps. After the committee closed the case, the charges against Babar Saleem Swati have been dropped, and he will continue to perform his constitutional duties.
