Ahsan Iqbal slams KP CM’s remarks as “irresponsible”

Iqbal claimed that instead of improving security, the PTI has focused on political protests, including long marches and attempts to "attack Islamabad."

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has criticized Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s recent statements, calling them “irresponsible” and an attempt to hide poor governance.

Speaking on Hum News’ program “Fasal Aap Ka,” Iqbal accused the PTI-led provincial government of failing to maintain law and order in KP despite having a public mandate.

Iqbal claimed that instead of improving security, the PTI has focused on political protests, including long marches and attempts to “attack Islamabad.” He contrasted this with the PML-N’s tenure, stating that peace had been restored in KP during their government. The minister also blamed PTI for allegedly rehabilitating “expelled elements” back into the country, worsening security challenges.

He emphasized that all institutions, including the federal government, must work together to combat terrorism. Iqbal also took a swipe at India, accusing it of using terrorism to mask its “defeat” against Pakistan in recent conflicts.

The minister further criticized PTI for lacking national unity, stating that unlike other political parties, PTI has refused to engage with opponents—even when in power.
