ISLAMABAD: An Al Jazeera report has unveiled the Pahalgam false flag operation, exposing what it described as a political drama orchestrated by the BJP.
The report accused the Indian government of suppressing press freedom in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), highlighting mass arrests of over 1,500 Kashmiris and the demolition of their homes. It noted that dissent has been silenced and civil liberties eroded under the Modi-led administration.
Instead of questioning intelligence lapses, mainstream Indian media—dubbed “Godi Media”—has largely echoed the government’s narrative, spreading hyper-nationalistic rhetoric and fear-based propaganda.
With over 400 news channels vying for ratings, sensationalism and nationalist posturing have become dominant. Networks such as Republic TV, Times Now, India Today, and Zee News were specifically named for blaming Pakistan without providing credible evidence, while pushing anti-Muslim narratives aligned with the ruling BJP’s Hindutva agenda.
The report also recalled that in 2019, the Modi government abrogated Article 370, revoking Kashmir’s special status and placing the region under direct central control. Subsequent electoral and demographic changes, it added, have tilted political power towards Hindu-majority Jammu, raising fears of permanent demographic shifts in Muslim-majority areas.
