LAHORE: The British Council has cancelled all Thursday afternoon exams—including GCE, IGCSE, IELTS, and University of London papers—at all centres in Lahore due to deteriorating security conditions in the city.
The decision, made in consultation with the relevant examination boards, applies exclusively to candidates in Lahore and does not affect other cities.
“This decision prioritises the safety and security of all candidates,” the British Council stated, advising students and parents to rely solely on official channels for updates.
Parents were informed early Thursday not to send their children for scheduled exams, while students were instructed to stay in contact with their schools for further guidance. Private candidates were directed to reach out to the British Council’s customer service for support.
The cancellation includes exams from leading UK boards such as Cambridge, Edexcel, and OxfordAQA.
No details have yet been released regarding rescheduling, but the British Council said further information will be shared through its official communication channels.
