Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, on Wednesday announced the bifurcation of the Malakand division into two separate administrative divisions, citing its vast geographical spread as the reason.
A consultative meeting was held under the chairmanship of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to prepare the next annual development program. The meeting held a long consultation to prepare the next annual development program of the Malakand Division.
Elected members of the National and Provincial Assembly of Malakand Division attended the meeting. In the meeting, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur announced the bifurcation of the Malakand Division into two separate divisions.
Addressing the meeting, Ali Amin Gandapur said that Malakand was a mountainous region spread over a vast area, and for the convenience of the people, it is necessary to divide it into two divisions.

The Chief Minister said that service delivery and governance will improve due to the smaller administrative units, the elected public representatives of Malakand Division will consult among themselves and decide the details for the establishment of two separate divisions.
The elected public representatives of Malakand Division welcomed the Chief Minister’s announcement and said that dividing Malakand Division into two divisions was a long-standing demand of the people of the area and the dire need of the hour.
He said that we are sincerely grateful to the Chief Minister for this announcement. The meeting also reviewed the progress on the ongoing annual development program of Malakand Division.
