PESHAWAR: The June 30 deadline to evacuate millions of Afghan refugees from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa KP has been temporarily postponed due to security and religious concerns during Muharram. Authorities plan to resume large-scale operations after the first ten days of Muharram.

The federal government is expected to soon announce an extension or new rules regarding the evacuation. Meanwhile, security agencies are cracking down on fake Pakistani identity cards, illegal citizenship, and suspicious government employees with Afghan ties.

Investigations reveal that some Afghan residents have fraudulently obtained documents under the names of Pakistani businessmen. These cases are now under scrutiny.
