A team from DI Khan district emerged victorious in a thrilling Bunyanu-al Marsoos football tournament held in the Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday.
The final match of the Al-Pakistan Banyan Al-Marsoos Football Tournament, organised with the support of the Pakistan Army’s 116 Brigade, ended with the Dera Ismail Khan team emerging victorious after a thrilling competition.
Special guests, including Deputy Commissioner of Bannu Muhammad Fahim Khan, Tehsil Municipal Officer Haji Yousuf Khan, and District Sports Officer Dr. Hazratullah, distributed prizes to the players.
During regulation time, both teams were tied with one goal each. They also remained equal in the penalty shootouts. Ultimately, the host team declared the Dera Ismail Khan team the winners.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Fahim Khan emphasised the people’s deep love for sports and athletes in Bannu. He noted that Bannu players proudly represent both Pakistan and their region on the global stage. He praised the Bannu team for maintaining a tradition of bravery and congratulated the Dera Ismail Khan team on their victory.
The Deputy Commissioner also assured that support and encouragement for the players would continue in the future, stating that today’s tournament is a positive step towards peace. He expressed commitment to maintaining this momentum.
