SWAT: The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Zulfiqar Hameed, has said that effective measures are underway to ensure lasting peace in the province.
He emphasised that Swat is a peaceful valley and will remain so. The IGP expressed the commitment of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police to stabilise law and order, stating that the police are diligently fulfilling their responsibilities on all fronts to ensure the safety of the people.
During a media briefing at the Police Line in Swat, IG KP addressed the law and order situation in the southern districts, assuring that conditions there would improve soon. He highlighted that police and other law enforcement agencies are actively engaged and effective steps are being taken in this regard.
The IG also mentioned that the process of promotions within the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police would begin soon, along with the implementation of a fair system for disciplinary actions. Additionally, in compliance with a Supreme Court order, action will be taken against two-stroke rickshaws to reduce environmental pollution.
To modernise the police force, the IG stated that new equipment, including modern weapons, bulletproof vehicles, and jammers, is being procured to effectively combat terrorism and other threats. He added that transfers and postings of senior police officers above grade 18 will only occur with the approval of the provincial government, following the law.

Furthermore, the IG announced that steps are being taken to align the salaries of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police with those of their counterparts in Punjab and other provinces, aiming to alleviate financial difficulties for personnel and enhance their performance. He concluded by commending the sacrifices of police personnel and praising their bravery.
