Foreign Powers Backing PTI Against Pakistan’s Interests, Claims Hanif Abbasi

Islamabad: Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi has alleged that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is receiving $1 million monthly from India to undermine the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). In intervew with a private news channe  Abbasi accused PTI of echoing Indian narratives and working against Pakistan’s economic interests.

Abbasi emphasized the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) importance in the current political setup, stating that the government cannot afford conflict with the PPP. He noted that key positions, including the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governors, as well as the presidency, are held by PPP members. “Asif Ali Zardari is respectable for us,” Abbasi said, dismissing rumors of discord.

The minister expressed confidence in the government’s longevity, asserting it would complete its remaining four years. He warned against internal divisions, stating, “Without you (PPP), our government will not exist, so yours will not exist either.”

Abbasi dismissed claims of Pakistan facing economic default, criticizing those protesting outside international financial institutions. He revealed that the country’s remittance target for the year stands at $35 billion, signaling economic resilience.

The Railways Minister condemned PTI’s response to the Jafar Express attack, accusing the party of aligning with Indian media’s stance. “India has allocated $1 million every month to disrupt CPEC, and these funds are being funneled to PTI,” Abbasi claimed. He alleged external backing for PTI but reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to stand with its armed forces.
