From Moscow to Mardan: Russian delegation impressed by Pakistan’s heritage protection

MARDAN: A high-level Russian delegation stepped back in time as they wandered through the ancient Buddhist ruins of Takht Bhai, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, under the watchful eyes of Mardan Police, who left no stone unturned to ensure their safety.

The visit, marked by tight security and cultural fascination, saw the Russian guests marvel at the centuries-old monastic complex, perched atop a rugged hill in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The delegation took keen interest in the historical significance of the site, its archaeological preservation, and Pakistan’s efforts to safeguard this relic of Gandhara civilization.

Foolproof Security Arrangements

Understanding the sensitivity of the visit, Mardan Police executed a meticulously planned security operation. DSP Takht Bhai Kausar Khan led the arrangements, deploying personnel at all entry and exit points. The bomb disposal squad and other elite units remained on high alert, ensuring no untoward incident disturbed the delegation’s exploration.

The Russian officials lauded the professionalism of the local police, particularly appreciating the seamless protocol and guidance provided throughout their visit. “The security was impeccable, and the hospitality made our historical journey even more enriching,” remarked one delegate.

A Testament to Pakistan’s Heritage Diplomacy

The visit not only highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to preserving its archaeological treasures but also reinforced cultural diplomacy between Pakistan and Russia. As the delegation departed, they carried with them stories of an ancient Buddhist past—and the memory of a nation eager to share its heritage with the world.
