ISLAMABAD: The federal government has approved a grant of Rs 250 million for the Pakistan hockey team to participate in the FIH Pro League.
The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has issued an official notification in this regard. According to media reports, the Pakistan Sports Board has directed the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) to submit a comprehensive plan for the team within 3 days, which must include the players’ travel schedule, logistical facilities, administrative matters and training plan.
It should be noted that the federal government has approved a total funding of Rs 400 million, out of which Rs 250 million has been given to the Pakistan Hockey Federation. The remaining Rs 150 million has been allocated for the first National Youth Games to be held in Islamabad.
The Men’s FIH Pro League is an international men’s field hockey competition organised by the International Hockey Federation (FIH), which replaces the Men’s FIH Hockey World League.
The competition also serves as a qualifier for the Hockey World Cup, and the first edition also did for the Olympic Games. The FIH Pro League, for the first time, started in 2017 in the Netherlands, in which nine teams participated.
