Illegal sale of Nuclear Materials in India threat to Global Nuclear Security: Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office has expressed serious concern over the incidents of theft and illegal sale of nuclear materials in India and said that the existence of a nuclear black market is a serious threat to the international nuclear security system.

The Foreign Office spokesperson said in a statement that Pakistan has full confidence in its comprehensive nuclear security system and strong command and control structure. He said that it is extremely regrettable that former US National Security Advisor John Bolton raised questions about Pakistan based on the controversial statement of an extremist politician like Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

According to the spokesperson, Rajnath Singh belongs to a Hindu extremist party that has been continuously issuing aggressive threats to Pakistan. Control of India’s nuclear weapons by such fanatics could prove dangerous for global peace and security.

The Foreign Office clarified that the growing political and social extremism in India, media behaviour and incidents of illegal purchase and sale of nuclear materials are a matter of concern for the international community. The spokesperson said that the international community should seriously review India’s nuclear program and its security system.
