ISLAMABAD: The Awami National Party (ANP) chief Aimal Wali Khan on Wednesday said implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) in true meaning is essential to achieve the targets of curbing terrorism in the country.
According to the Awami National Party spokesperson, Senator Aimal Wali Khan made it clear in the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security that there is no “good” or “bad” among terrorists, but they should only be considered terrorists and their facilitators should also be brought to justice.
According to Awami National Party spokesperson Engineer Ehsanullah Khan, Aimal Wali Khan has demanded the establishment of a Truth and Reconciliation Commission in the meeting of the National Security Committee.
Aimal Wali Khan has further said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and especially the merged districts have been a victim of terrorism for a long time and due to state policies, this region has become a hotbed of weapons, foreign fighters and extremism.
According to the Awami National Party, providing weapons, training and financial support to militant groups in the past was a state mistake, the consequences of which the Pakhtun people are now paying with their blood. Enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings and losses from military operations have further increased public distrust.
The ANP stressed the need to provide equal opportunities to all progressive forces and keep state institutions away from political matters to eradicate extremism and promote democracy in the country.
The party leader warned, if immediate and decisive steps were not taken, the situation would be out of control.
