Indonesia seeks to strengthen defence cooperation with Pakistan

Lieutenant General Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin (Retd), Minister of Defence of Indonesia leading a delegation comprising representatives from various services and intelligence agencies called on the Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff at General Headquarters, today.

During the meeting both sides exchanged views on bilateral defence collaboration, regional security dynamics and avenues to further strengthen military ties. The meeting underscored the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two countries. Field Marshal highlighted the importance of mutual cooperation in maintaining peace and stability in the region.

Minister of Defence of Indonesia appreciated the role of Pakistan Army in fight against terrorism and reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to enhancing defence relations with Pakistan.

Iranian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi spoke with Field Marshal Asim Munir, expressing his sincere gratitude for Pakistan’s principled and courageous stance during recent regional tensions.

During their conversation, Major General Mousavi praised Pakistan for its support amidst the ongoing conflicts involving the US and Israel. He noted that Pakistan has set a commendable example of friendship and brotherhood by backing Iran’s position against Zionist aggression.

Major General Mousavi commended Pakistan for its bravery in facing the imposed aggression and expressed appreciation not only to the Pakistani leadership but also to the people who stood with Iran during these challenging times, further strengthening fraternal relations.

According to Iranian media, the Iranian Army Chief emphasised that Pakistan’s moral support in response to the actions taken by the Zionist regime has been encouraging for Iran.
