TEHRAN: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has reaffirmed that Iran will never relinquish its nuclear technology, underlining its importance to the country’s national pride and scientific progress.
In a recent media statement, Araghchi said, “We have worked tirelessly to achieve nuclear technology. Our scientists have made tremendous sacrifices in this pursuit, and our people have endured immense hardship along the way.” He added, “A war was imposed on us under the false pretext of nuclear weapons.”
His comments echoed Iran’s firm stance on preserving its nuclear programme, which Iranian officials consistently describe as peaceful and non-military in nature.
Behrouz Kamalvandi, spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran (AEOI), reiterated that Iran’s nuclear industry is deeply rooted in the country’s scientific infrastructure and cannot be undone by outside pressure.
Kamalvandi said on Tuesday. “Our technological potential demands that this sector continues to grow. Attempts to halt its progress are futile.”
His remarks followed an unauthorized U.S. strike targeting three major Iranian nuclear facilities — Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan — all of which are under full surveillance by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
U.S. President Donald Trump later claimed the strikes aimed to “destroy” Iran’s nuclear programme. In response, Araghchi emphasized that Iran’s nuclear advancements are based on indigenous expertise and “cannot be eliminated through bombing.”
Iran’s nuclear chief, Mohammad Eslami, confirmed on Tuesday that the country is actively assessing the damage to its nuclear infrastructure and has initiated plans to restore full operational capacity.
Speaking to Mehr News, Eslami stated, “Measures have been taken to ensure that there are no disruptions in production and services. Restoring the industry is a national priority.”
