Islamabad United’s Matt Short ruled out of PSL X

KARACHI: Islamabad United confirmed that Australian all-rounder Matt Short has been ruled out of the remainder of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 due to a recurring injury, initially sustained during the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year.

In a statement issued ahead of their match against Karachi Kings, the franchise noted that although Short showed encouraging signs upon arriving in Pakistan, he began experiencing discomfort during training. A joint medical assessment by Islamabad United and Cricket Australia determined that withdrawing him from the tournament was best for his long-term health and career.

The 27-year-old has returned to Australia to continue his rehabilitation under the care of Cricket Australia’s medical team.

“Islamabad United remains fully committed to the health and well-being of our players. We extend our full support to Matt during his recovery,” the statement read. “We thank him for his professionalism and positive presence in the squad, and wish him a speedy and full recovery.”

Islamabad United have yet to name a replacement for Short. The team sits at the top of the table with three wins from three matches and is set to face Karachi Kings on Sunday at the National Stadium.
