Jamaat-e-Islami’s July 30 Peace Jirga Targets KP Security Challenges

Jamaat-e-Islami has announced that it will hold a peace jirga in Peshawar on July 30, titled ‘Dam Aman Ghag,’ to discuss the law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In preparation for the jirga, a meeting was held with district officials of Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where they discussed plans and developed a social media strategy to mobilise teams across the province.

Abdul Wasi, the Central Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stated that the restoration of peace has become the biggest challenge in the province, affecting everyone due to the ongoing unrest. He noted that business activities have suffered significantly and that many of the problems faced by the people stem from this instability.

The peace jirga will take place at the Gul Makai Shadi Hall in Peshawar, near the Northern Bypass. It is expected to attract leaders and members from various political and religious parties, scholars, lawyers, business organisations, the Chamber of Commerce, journalists, and individuals from different walks of life.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur said that he would not allow any military operation in the province without taking the provincial government into confidence and holding the federal government responsible for not establishing peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Talking to media persons after the all-party conference Chief Minister said that the opposition’s boycott of the All Party Conference means that they are not worried about terrorism in the province and their priorities are other than bringing peace and stability in the province.

He also demanded that the Federal government open all the borders with Afghanistan for trade and hold a grand dialogue with the Afghan brother for a better, friendly relationship.

He said that there is nothing in the mine and mineral bill, and pointing fingers toward it is just a propaganda of the opposition parties to defame the government.
