JUI-F decides not to join PTI’s political alliance

PESHAWAR: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has announced that it will continue its political struggle from its own platform and will not join any formal political alliance.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) wanted to include JUI-F in the alliance to build pressure on the government. PTI and JUI-F leaders held several rounds of talks in this regard, but they failed to make progress.

The decision not to join any alliance was taken in the party’s Central General Assembly, chaired by JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

According to the spokesperson, the meeting decided to continue supporting the Palestinian struggle for freedom in a full-fledged manner. In this regard, it was decided to hold a Martyrs of Gaza Million March on April 27 in Lahore, May 11 in Peshawar, and May 15 in Quetta.

He said the meeting appeals to the nation to provide financial assistance to the people of Gaza, while also strongly condemning the worsening law and order situation in the country.

According to the spokesperson, the meeting stated that the government and state institutions appear completely unable to protect the lives and property of the people. The central and provincial governments, established as a result of rigging, have completely failed to solve the public’s problems and establish law and order.

Demanding fresh, clean, and transparent elections in the country, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam reiterated that it will continue its political struggle independently and will not join any formal political alliance. However, the Central Shura Council or the Central Executive Council will decide the strategy of cooperation with various religious and parliamentary opposition parties on common issues.

The spokesperson also said the meeting completely rejected the Mines and Minerals Bill. The party’s members of the Balochistan Assembly who voted in favour of the bill will be asked for an explanation, and a formal show-cause notice will be issued to them.

Earlier, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur had criticised JUI-F and other political forces for voting in favour Mines and Mineral Act in the Balochistan Assembly but opposing the same bill in Khyber Pakhtukhwa Assembly.
