PESCO’s Reforms to Address Load-Shedding, Financial Challenges Reviewed by KP Top Official

PESHAWAR: Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahab Ali Shah, chaired a high-level meeting with Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) officials to address ongoing electricity problems, load management, and recovery of unpaid bills.

During the meeting, PESCO presented a three-month action plan to tackle challenges in the power sector, including power theft and line losses. The Chief Secretary approved an incentive scheme for staff involved in recovery drives and anti-theft operations.

Emphasizing the need for improved efficiency, Shah directed PESCO to prioritize installing meters to ensure fair distribution and reduce losses. With summer approaching, he also stressed better load management to minimize outages.

Additionally, PESCO was instructed to assist the Peshawar Development Authority in resolving power supply hurdles along the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor. The Chief Secretary urged the use of insulated cables to prevent theft and technical losses.

The meeting was attended by PESCO’s Chairman Board of Directors, Additional Chief Secretary Home & Tribal Affairs, Secretary Energy, and other officials. Updates on recent anti-theft raids were shared, with the Chief Secretary ordering daily progress reports to his office.

Authorities vowed to intensify efforts against electricity theft and ensure smoother power supply across the province.
