PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has summoned the provincial assembly session on Sunday, July 20 at 9:00 am.
During the session oath would be administered from the newly elected members of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on reserved seats. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor approved the summary of the Chief Minister to convene the assembly session. According to the Governor Secretariat, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was asked to send a summary to convene the assembly session in light of the orders of the Supreme Court and the letter of the Election Commission, after which the summary was sent by the Chief Minister, which was approved.
It should be noted that elections are expected to be held on 11 seats of the Senate on July 21, for which the swearing-in of new members was a constitutional requirement however, the government was not sending a summary to convene the session.
Letters were also written by the Election Commission to the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, and yesterday a letter was also written to the Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court by the Secretary of the Election Commission, asking that nominations should be made for the newly elected members to take the oath.
