KP governor to administer oath to newly‑elected MPAs on reserved seats

The oath-taking ceremony of the members elected on reserved seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is scheduled to be held at 6 pm today on Sunday, at the Governor House. The Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has called a formal meeting at 6 pm.
Sources say that the Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court has delegated the authority to the Governor to take the oath, after which preparations for the oath-taking ceremony have been completed at the Governor’s House.
This oath will be taken under Article 65 and Article 255(2) of the Constitution of Pakistan, as well as Rule 6 of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Procedure and Conduct of Business Rules 1988.
According to sources, despite strong resistance from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, the constitution and law have found their way, and today’s ceremony is being declared not only a victory of democracy but also a victory of the constitutional process.
Sources say that the formal announcement of the swearing-in is expected any time; however, the security of the ceremony has been made foolproof and only invited members and media representatives will be allowed to attend. According to senior sources, the political landscape of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor House is going to change this evening as the swearing-in process at the reserved seats is finally going to be completed despite the obstacles created by the PTI.
