PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to brief lawmakers on the proposed Mines and Minerals Amendment Bill.
A notification was issued in this regard by the KP provincial assembly’s secretariat on Friday, stating that the assembly lawmakers would be briefed about the proposed Mines and Minerals amendment bill on April 14 in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Jirga Hall.
The proposed amendment bill presented in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on April 4 was objected to by the treasury and opposition members. In this regard, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has issued a letter to all the members of the assembly to brief them on the bill.
According to the letter, the purpose of the briefing was to remove the objections of the members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly to the bill. In the briefing, not only the government but also the opposition members would be taken into confidence, while the concerns of the members of the assembly would be addressed, and the way would be paved for passing the proposed bill.
Sources say that during the briefing, the members of the assembly would be convinced that there was nothing against the rights of the province in the proposed bill.
