LOWER DIR: (ZAFAR ALI SHAH) Lack of facilities and road infrastructure in Lower Dir have significantly hampers the ratio of visiting tourists to the area, as residents are demanding Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority to make a conducive environment to flourish tourism in the area.
Talking to Pakhtun Digital, a resident of Lower Dir, Munir Kamal Advocate told that God almighty has granted a beautiful view to this area, but now it is the responsibility of the government to provide basic facilities of road and infrastructure to tourist community, who are coming there from the far flung areas of the country.
He said that the Kumrat valley, which is one of the eye-catching tourist destinations for visitors, lacks road facilities, as tourists sometimes travel on foot to avoid traffic incidents. He said that this road needs emergency blacktopping to provide easy and speedy access to all beautiful valleys of Lower and Upper Dir.
He said that the deteriorating security situation in Malakand division is one of the reasons behind the lack of tourism activities in the area and peace restored in the area, these areas will not only attract national tourism but it would also catch the international tourists to come and enjoy the cold blaze of Kalam, Kumrat and Lower Dir.
Another resident of Lower Dir, Shafiq-ul-Islam, told this scribe that the recent terrorist activities in Bajaur have badly disappointed the people of the area. He said that incidents like this are badly affecting tourism in Malakand, where people are already facing severe unemployment and poverty.
He said that the government should provide full-fledged facilities of roads and infrastructure to compete with other countries in the tourism sector. He mentioned that Pakistan have great potential for tourism and the norther parts of this country is looks like paradise for international tourists.
