Margalla Hills trails closed in capital amid new monsoon spell

ISLAMABAD: Authorities in Islamabad have closed multiple hiking trails in Margalla Hills following forecasts of heavy monsoon rains.

A notification issued by the District Magistrate stated that the measure has been taken as a precautionary step in view of the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s prediction of heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next 72 hours.

On the recommendations of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and other relevant institutions, Trail 2, Trail 3, Trail 4, Trail 5, and the trail behind Saidpur Village have been temporarily shut down.

The restriction will remain in force until August 19, 2025. Officials said the decision has been made to safeguard citizens, particularly hikers and visitors, from possible risks posed by severe weather conditions, including landslides and flash floods.
