PDMA issues updated report on casualties and damages from KP floods
The recent heavy rains and flash floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have led to a significant increase in loss of life and property.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has released its latest report, stating that 365 people have died and 181 have been injured in various incidents across the province. The fatalities include 294 men, 41 women, and 30 children, while the injuries consist of 144 men, 27 women, and 10 children.

The flooding has also severely damaged 782 houses, with 433 partially destroyed and 349 destroyed. Buner district has been particularly hard-hit, recording 225 deaths. Other affected districts include Swat, Bajaur, Mansehra, Shangla, Lower Dir, Battagram, and Swabi.

The PDMA forecasts more heavy rains from August 17 to 19, with the current weather conditions expected to continue intermittently until August 21. Authorities in the impacted districts have been instructed to accelerate relief efforts and provide immediate assistance to the victims.

The PDMA spokesperson announced that the Emergency Operation Center is fully operational and urged the public to contact helpline 1700 for any emergencies or information related to the weather situation.
