ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast more rainfall in the coming days. Islamabad and nearby areas are already seeing on-and-off rain after a heavy hailstorm.
Yesterday, rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have claimed two lives and injured nine others.
A new wave of storms has hit the upper parts of the country. Strong winds, rain, and hail have battered areas like Landi Kotal. Heavy hail broke the windows of many vehicles at the Torkham border.
Nowshera is also experiencing strong rain and hail.
In Mardan, heavy rain has caused flooding in local streams. In Haripur, strong winds uprooted trees and damaged power lines, leading to power outages.
In Sheikhupura, lightning killed one person. In Muzaffarabad, strong winds ripped roofs off several homes.
In Rado Ambor, a falling tree killed a young man.
Rain with thunder continues to affect Taxila and Wah Cantt. Ghizer and nearby mountain areas have seen rain and snowfall, causing temperatures to drop further.
The KP government has released a report on the damage caused by three days of rain. It confirmed two deaths and nine injuries.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said the dead include one man and one woman. The injured include four men, three women, and two children.
The report said eleven houses and twenty shops were partly damaged. Incidents occurred in Charsadda, Khyber, Shangla, Battagram, and Lower Chitral.
Authorities have told local administrations to help affected families quickly. They must ensure the injured get the best medical care and reopen rain-blocked roads.
PDMA confirmed its Emergency Operations Center is fully active. It remains in contact with district administrations, agencies, and relief groups.
