ISLAMABAD: The National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) of the NDMA has issued a series of impact-based weather alerts, warning of potential flooding and flash floods across several parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Balochistan due to expected heavy rainfall between July 11 and July 17, 2025.
In Punjab, widespread rain is anticipated in districts such as Jhelum, Chakwal, Talagang, Mandi Bahauddin, Sargodha, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Lahore, and Narowal. Southern areas like DG Khan, Rajanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan are also expected to receive moderate to heavy downpours, potentially causing medium to high flows in local torrents and streams, especially those originating from the Pir Panjal range.
KP is forecast to experience moderate to heavy rainfall from July 12 to 17 in regions including Dir, Swat, Besham, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Karak, Kohat, Kohistan, Nowshera, Peshawar, Mardan, Malakand, Charsadda, Bannu, Buner, Swabi, and Waziristan. Rainfall in these areas may result in rising water levels in the Kabul River and its tributaries, such as Swat, Panjkora, and Kalpani nullahs, with River Kabul at Nowshera expected to reach low flood stage.
Authorities have been directed to ensure emergency preparedness, including availability of machinery and drainage system clearance. Tourists are advised to avoid high-altitude areas, and residents in flood-prone zones are urged to safeguard their belongings, livestock, and essential supplies for 3–5 days.
Urban centers, particularly in northeast and central Punjab, have been asked to deploy dewatering pumps to mitigate urban flooding risks. Citizens are advised to avoid flooded roads, low bridges, and river crossings.
NDMA is coordinating with provincial and district disaster management authorities to ensure timely alerts and effective response. People are encouraged to stay updated through TV, radio, SMS alerts, and the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert app.
