ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather alert warning of heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds in various parts of Southern Punjab over the next 24 to 48 hours.
According to details, the areas expected to be affected include Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Ahmedpur, Liaqatpur, Zahir Pir, Rajanpur, Khanpur, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, and Sadiqabad areas of Southern Punjab.
The NDMA has cautioned that intense rainfall may lead to flash flooding in hill torrents, urban flooding in low-lying areas, and even landslides in vulnerable regions.
Authorities have warned that strong winds and thunderstorms could result in the uprooting of weak trees and disruptions to power infrastructure. Reduced visibility due to heavy rain and dust also poses an increased risk of road accidents.
