PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Junaid Akbar rejected rumors surrounding the removal of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, calling such speculation “baseless.”
Speaking to media representatives in Peshawar, Akbar emphasised that differences of opinion within PTI are a reflection of the party’s democratic culture. “The beauty of PTI lies in its openness to internal dialogue,” he said. “Unlike other political parties that are driven by political servants, PTI is powered by political workers.”
Addressing speculation about a possible change in leadership, Akbar stated that if there were any reason to remove Gandapur, party founder Imran Khan could have done so instantly. “There is no such situation. Imran Khan has full confidence in Ali Amin Gandapur, and as long as he does, we all stand by him,” he asserted.
He further added that PTI is operating under extraordinary pressure, with its leadership regularly appearing in courts. “The party is in a constant state of political warfare, which has inevitably impacted our activities,” he said.
In response to a question regarding recent statements by the Chief Minister, Akbar urged restraint. “Unnecessary statements should be avoided. There may be differences, and perhaps the CM’s remarks have been taken out of context. I don’t question anyone’s intentions,” he said.
Akbar concluded by acknowledging the sacrifices of PTI members following the events of May 9. “Those who stood by the party through difficult times deserve respect. Their commitment and intentions should not be doubted,” he added.
