RAWALPINDI: Security sources on Friday clarified that the ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India is not time-bound and will continue for an indefinite period, provided there are no violations from either side.
According to the sources, recent reports suggesting a temporary or limited ceasefire have created misunderstandings. They emphasized that there is no specific duration or date attached to the agreement and that it remains open-ended as long as both nations adhere to its terms.
The sources further stated that Pakistan is fully committed to upholding the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC). “So far, there have been no new provocations from the Indian side,” a senior security official said, noting that the current calm is a result of mutual restraint. Efforts to maintain peace are ongoing, with both sides reportedly taking constructive steps to stabilise the situation. However, the sources warned that any ceasefire violation by India would be met with a “strong and effective” response from Pakistan. The clarification comes amid cautious optimism that the current lull in hostilities could pave the way for a more durable peace along the heavily militarised border.
